Not only styling

People sometimes think I only choose cushions and colours. The styling is the last step. Before it come the layout, the construction and working drawings, the lighting, electrical and sanitary plans, the kitchen and the bathroom, and a contractor who is managed until the handover. Here is everything I do, with the projects it was done in.

How a project runs

A full renovation goes through all of these steps. A kitchen, a styling or a single drawing takes the ones it needs.

  1. 01

    First visit

We walk through the house. You tell me what works and what does not, and I tell you what I see. You receive a proposal with the steps and the fee.

  2. 02

    Measuring and mood board

I measure every wall, height and door, and we fill a shared mood board with everything you like, as if the budget were unlimited.

  3. 03

    Layout and concept

A sketch of the new layout, moved around like building blocks until it fits the way you live, with the first materials and colours.

  4. 04

    Technical drawings

Construction and working drawings, lighting, electrical and sanitary plans: everything the contractor, electrician and installer need.

  5. 05

    Quotations and contractor

Quotations requested and compared, a contractor found if needed, and the work planned in the right order.

  6. 06

    Kitchen, bathroom and materials

Designed in detail and ordered, with samples held up in the light of the room.

  7. 07

    The work

Site visits, questions answered, and decisions made quickly when something unexpected turns up behind a wall.

  8. 08

    Furniture and styling

Furniture, lighting, curtains and accessories chosen and placed, so the house is finished the day you move in.

Questions

Good to know

Do you only do styling?
No. Styling is the last step of most projects. Before that I draw the layout, the construction and working drawings, and the lighting, electrical and sanitary plans, and I manage the contractor. Walls are moved, extensions and dormers are built, and kitchens change sides of the house.
Do I need an architect as well?
For an interior renovation, an extension or a dormer, usually not: I make the drawings. Where a structural engineer or a permit is required, I prepare the drawings for it and work with the engineer and the contractor.
Can I hire you for one drawing only?
Yes. A furniture layout, a lighting plan or a set of drawings for your own contractor is a complete assignment.
Do you work with my contractor or bring your own?
Either. I work with contractors you choose, and I can introduce contractors, installers and kitchen suppliers I have worked with before.
Can you work with me remotely?
Yes. Owners who live abroad hand over the whole process and receive updates along the way, and one apartment was designed entirely over video calls.
Which areas do you cover?
Amsterdam and Amstelveen mainly, and the towns around them such as Aalsmeer, Uithoorn and Zaandam. Further away is possible for larger projects.
