Kitchen design in Amsterdam and Amstelveen

The room where everyone ends up, made to cook and linger in. I design the layout, the cabinetry, the lighting and the materials, and manage the kitchen supplier and the contractor until it is installed.

How I work

Everything I do

Kitchens that fit the house

Dutch kitchens are often small and oddly placed. Several of my projects moved the kitchen to a better spot in the house, opened it up to the dining area or found room for a proper island in a city apartment. The Botanic kitchen is 7.2 square metres and still has a full working triangle, storage and a place to sit.

From drawing to installation

You get a complete plan: layout, elevations, the positions of the appliances, electrics and water, lighting and a scheme of finishes and colours. I ask kitchen suppliers for quotations, compare them with you and manage the delivery and installation together with the contractor.

Materials and colours

Painted cabinetry, oak, stone and tiles: the choices depend on the light in the room and on the rest of the house. Recent kitchens range from cashmere and green in a boho-modern apartment to deep navy above a herringbone floor, and a quiet grey kitchen with Portuguese tiles.

Questions

Good to know

Do you design the kitchen only, or the whole renovation?
Either. A kitchen is often the start of a bigger project, such as moving it to the front of the house, but a kitchen on its own is a complete project too.
Do you work with a particular kitchen brand?
No. I design the kitchen first and then look for the supplier that can build it well within your budget.
Can you do something with a very small kitchen?
Yes. Small kitchens are where planning matters most: every centimetre of storage, the right appliances and good light make a small kitchen a pleasure to use.
Where do you design kitchens?
Amsterdam, Amstelveen and the surrounding towns.
